deconstructed mugs

May 26, 2019

I’ve been messing around with deconstructed/reconstructed paintings for a little big (collage/assemblage work crossing over into the realm of sneaker recon hype). It only made sense to try the same thing with some busted ceramic pieces.

It plays with the idea of “functional” vs sculptural. And the sharp edges of the pottery shards allow me to make use of graphic lines and shapes which otherwise aren’t available when the clay body is used in more traditional ways.
